Frequently Asked Questions
(IF YOU HAVE OTHER QUESTIONS, PLEASE EMAIL ME: nancy@nancythygesen.com)
I would like to explore art therapy but not sure it’s for me.
That is totally understandable as it is a form of therapeutic healing. This is why I offer a complimentary breakthrough discovery session to see if it’s a fit for you and best meets your needs.
Do I have to have more than one session?
That is totally up to you. It’s a lot like peeling back the layers of an onion. When themes emerge, more than one session is recommended so that we can get to the heart of the issue. Every individual is unique. My goal is to support and empower you on your journey of healing. Art therapy seems to progress more quickly than traditional talk therapy as it bypasses the logical mind in a gentle way when words are not enough.
Do I have to buy art materials?
You don’t have to buy expensive art supplies. Very simple materials that most people have on hand – markers, paper, glue, scissors, crayons can be used. If in person, I have a range of art materials on-hand that I appropriate to our session.
What if I want to learn more about my creative side through art?
As a practicing artist, I also teach in a variety of art mediums and support you in the direction you would like to explore. If I can’t help you, I will give you other options.
Do you take insurance?
At this point, I do not. We can arrange a payment schedule with etransfer, credit card or paypal.
I would like to have you facilitate a workshop for a group. Do you do that and how much do they cost?
Yes, please book in my calendar and we will discuss details and what is the best outcome you are envisioning for the group. We also discuss time frames which can be an afternoon/evening, a day or a weekend. Groups range from small groups, team building, bridal parties, paint and sip nights, teacher inservice days. Groups can be a one-time or a series and also can be facilitated online. If I facilitate in-person and I supply art materials, the cost of the workshop is adjusted accordingly. As a guideline, my rate is $100/hour – supplies and travel are additional costs if required. Subscribe to my newsletter to keep posted on classes and group offerings.
I really like your art gallery, but don’t see a way of buying online.
I want to make sure that anyone who purchases my art is totally satisfied. Please email or book a time in my calendar and we will arrange for you can see the piece via zoom before you buy. (If local, meeting in person can be arranged.) My online store will be coming soon!
How much will I have to pay for shipping?
You will be advised of shipping costs via Fedex upfront. Costs will be determined by your location and will be added to the price of the artwork..
I would really like to commission you for a piece of art. How do I do that?
Please email me and we will set up a zoom or in-person if you are within travelling distance. We sit down with your vision and where you want to put this art in your home. We have a letter of understanding that will outline subject matter, medium, size and price. A 50% deposit will begin your piece with the balance due on completion.
