The other day, Rick went to donate blood. He’s in high demand—O-Negative, a universal donor. The original caveman, which explains a lot. He was in and out in 30 minutes, thanks to great veins and circulation. And—he didn’t even take the free snack. Come on, you know what I’m talkin’ about.
Me? I’m A-Positive—the agrarian blood type. Rick likes to compare us to vehicles: He’s the old GMC that always starts, happy and reliable. I’m the Corvette—high maintenance, needing special handling and a cover in the winter. 😉
The last time I gave blood? Over a decade ago. With my low blood pressure, they practically had to suction it out. Then, when I got my first and only tattoo in 1996, I was disqualified for three months—so no excuse there.
A System Reset—Physically and –Spiritually
Fun fact: giving blood is actually good for you. It’s like a system reset, clearing out old cells so your body can make fresh, new ones. But somehow, it fell off my radar.
Now, I’m not campaigning for Canadian Blood Services, but I am here to talk about a different kind of transfusion—the eternal one. The blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus, shed on the cross, washing us clean from the inside out.
I share this because it’s my testimony. I can’t stay silent. Jesus changed my life. I was one way, and now I’m another. He’s still refining me, and my purpose has shifted. For years, I tried to prove my worth through what I did—believing the more I accomplished, the better I’d be.
From Striving to Reflecting His Light
But here’s the miracle: Jesus redeemed it all. My art, my dancing, my work in art therapy and Pilates—no longer about striving to “arrive” but about reflecting His light. Sharing what I’ve been given.
Not something I achieved.
So, I invite you—take inventory. What’s your “old blood”? The clutter, the distractions, the things that weigh you down? And if you need a “transfusion,” you know Who to turn to.
The greatest gift of love. The ultimate renewal.
This is spring cleaning for eternity.
xoxo,
Nancy
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:5-7
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
