I read an elementary school outdoor sign that said: “Autumn is a good time to let go of things.”
I wonder how many kids, parents and passerbys see that sign every day and think about what they have had to let go of?
How can the seasons be so steadfast when our lives have changed so dramatically?
Quite a profound thought really. Letting go of things often comes when we’re least expecting it. And – is there ever a good time for letting go? How many of us wake up saying: “I think I want to let go of everything I hold dear and familiar today.” Not.
How many are not able to resume what we once did freely without even a second thought? Who would have thought papers would be required to dine in a restaurant or go to a movie, enter a gym or watch kids play hockey.
These last 18 months have taught me to hold all things loosely and be grateful for all things. (Choke.)
I sure have struggled with all of the above.
I’m sure you have seen via the internet and social media, no shortage of online programs to pivot out of this pandemic and present solutions for humanity’s global angst.
Are we yearning for the old paths -the ‘golden’ years of pre-2020? Move forward and return to the good path. Sounds like an oxymoron. How do you move forward and return? The ‘old paths’, the good way will return in a different light, if we choose to look with a different lens.
May I share a long-term, eternal solution that’s sure, that lasts and now directs all my work?
– Saying yes to a different kind of letting go. Letting go of doing it my way and surrendering to God’s Way that never changes and the free gift of eternal life given to us by His Son:
I am the Way the Truth and the Life. (John 14:6)
He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, one who never changes. (Revelations 22:13)
There will never be anything that separates you from His eternal love:
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (Romans 8:38-39)
No letting go there will ever happen. He stands at the door of your heart and knocks. (Revelations 3:20)
A simple yes is all that’s required.
